MOST REVEREND JULIAN CHARLES PORTEOUS, DD

Most Reverend Archbishop Porteous was ordained to the priesthood in 1974. He previously served as an Assistant Priest in the parishes of Kingsgrove, Manly, The Entrance, Woy Woy, and Mona Vale; Administrator of the Parish of Annandale; and Parish Priest of Dulwich Hill. He was instrumental in establishing the Pastoral Training School which, since 1984, has formed thousands of young Catholics in their faith and in the pastoral skills necessary to contribute to the Church’s evangelizing ministry. He has been an advocate of the New Evangelization called for by Saint John Paul II and was responsible for evangelization and renewal as Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Sydney until his appointment as Archbishop of Hobart in 2013.
